We just received the schedule for the Summer Session of the National Council: the Postulat 22.3390 “Für Chancengleichheit und die Förderung des akademischen Nachwuchses / Pour l’égalité des chances et le soutien de la relève scientifique” will be treated on June 9!
Many of you contacted us after our newsletter last week, expressing your interest in writing to your political representatives. Many thanks to all of you! Since there were a number of questions that came up repeatedly, we thought it best to share some straightforward steps:
- Go to the website of the parliament and find the email address of the representatives of your canton.
- We have prepared a template letter in German, French and English (at the end of the newsletter) to give you a starting point for your message.
- Individualize and personalize your message. Tell the parliamentarians who you are and why a change of the academic system is important to you. (This is an important step, as a personal story is more effective than an anonymous email).
- In particular, contact the parliamentarians that represent your canton on the national council – but of course feel free to contact as many as you have time and energy.
- Send off the email(s)
Let’s make sure all our politicians know about the concerns and issues in Swiss higher education and understand that we need change now — and thus need them to vote in favor of the Postulat on June 9!
Your responses to our last newsletter were truly motivating for all of us! Let’s make sure we take this important next step – with less than a month to go, we need all of you to advocate for a better future for Swiss higher education institutions.
